Carl Cox is a world-class saxophonist and solo recording artist from Southern New Jersey, known for his electrifying performances and remarkable versatility. A highly sought-after musician, he has toured nationally and internationally with legendary artists such as Smokey Robinson, Maysa, Incognito, and Gerald Veasley. His distinctive sound can be heard on Grammy Award-winning recordings, national radio, and live performances, with many of his solo singles topping the Billboard charts and receiving regular airplay on XM Radio.

A native of Deptford, New Jersey, Carl’s passion for music led him to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Saxophone Performance and a Master’s in Education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. He honed his craft performing at local events and jam sessions, which quickly opened doors to high-profile touring and recording opportunities. Over the past two decades, Carl has worked with an extensive list of iconic artists, including Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, Chris “Big Dog” Davis, Peter White, Jeff Lorber, Chuck Loeb, Brian Culbertson, Questlove, Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, Jill Scott, The O’Jays, and many others. His television appearances include The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, VH1 Hip Hop Honors, BET, and TBN alongside Kirk Franklin.

Beyond his career as a performer, Carl is also a passionate educator, dedicating himself to teaching high school music and mentoring young musicians. Whether on stage, in the studio, or in the classroom, his ability to blend jazz, gospel, R&B, and soul has cemented his reputation as one of the most respected saxophonists in the industry.

Carl’s journey with Minute By Minute began when he met Kyle Maack while performing with The Temptations and The Four Tops in Wilmington. The two quickly bonded over their shared love of live music and mutual connections in the industry. When Kyle and Alvin Burnett began developing the concept for Minute By Minute, Kyle and music director Mike Ian immediately thought of Carl for the horn section. His powerful playing and impactful solos became a highlight of the show, adding yet another dimension to his already impressive career.
