PERCUSSIONS
Edgardo Cintron has been a trailblazer in the Latin music scene of the Greater Philadelphia area for nearly 40 years. A respected US Army Veteran and renowned percussionist, Edgardo made his mark as the first percussionist for the iconic local band Don’t Call Me Francis. He went on to become the leader of several celebrated bands, including his self-titled Latin ensemble Cintron, the vibrant Mambo Magic Band, and the Inca Band, a tribute to the legendary music of Carlos Santana.
Edgardo’s artistry and passion have connected him with a wide array of musicians. In 2022, he crossed paths with Kyle Maack during an interview for R&B Showcase, a radio show Kyle produced. This meeting laid the groundwork for a creative collaboration. In 2023, Edgardo invited Kyle and guitarist Mike Ian to contribute to a benefit album honoring the late Danny DeGennaro, produced for the foundation dedicated to his legacy.
In 2024, Kyle, Mike, and Alvin Burnett invited Edgardo to join their Minute by Minute show, a heartfelt tribute to Michael McDonald’s music. Edgardo’s dynamic presence and masterful musicianship have enriched the performance, adding energy and depth to the group’s interpretation of McDonald’s timeless work.
From his pioneering Latin rhythms to collaborations across genres, Edgardo continues to leave an indelible mark on the music world.
